"Joey is a great example of how to live life- to wag more and bark less. He approaches every new person with an open mind and is generous with affection. This good boy is loyal, gentle and leaves everyone smiling. He’d be a wonderful mascot for Camas."
"Petunia is a bulldog that loves absolutely anyone she meets—furry or human. I mean, she is also a bulldog with a lot of health issues... she’s beat pneumonia 6 times, has had multiple surgeries, and just loves everyone. "
"A shelter alumnus, Spud knows the value of humane societies and how they can pawsitively impact local communities and families. Although he is running as a Dogocrat, Spud has the support of many Repurrblicans and has a long history of reaching across the aisle to play. At six pounds, Spud will be a tiny, but mighty, Mayor."
"Banjo stops traffic when he strolls through Downtown Camas- he is so handsome that all kinds of people want to stop and love on him! He is exuberant, friendly, wild and sweet! The perfect charismatic pup for mayor! Maybe those baby blue eyes will win the election!"
"Barley 'works' as our lovable office mascot a couple days a week at Caps & Taps in Camas. He's the friendliest dog you'll ever meet and spends much of his time greeting customers, walking around downtown Camas, and getting lovies from his many admirers. He's a sweet wise fellah who can use his years of experience as APOD Dog Mayor."
"Summer is one of the most loving, sweet, and photogenic dog that will always melt your heart. Summer loves to explore more into Pacific Northwest since moving from Kentucky/Colorado and have traveled over 10 different states in her first 7 years of life! There’s no other best friend you could have asked for but only Summer can be the one!"
"Jackson is a best friend to everyone he meets, often greeting them with kisses. Don't let Jackson's five and a half pound size fool you, his hobbies include paddle boarding, fetch, swimming, wrestling and this summer he took up skim boarding, there is no sport he will not try."
"Bo loves cuddles, treats and the dog park. He draws attention everywhere he goes and his easy personality makes him a hit in our neighborhood and community. Bo is a big fluffy boy who thinks he is a tiny baby. He is also incredibly sweet and is often referred to as an unofficial therapy dog."
"Pawz loves to use his voice whether it be to answer a question, express he is sad, or when he gets frustrated with a toy. He is also smart, he can do his normal “friends” which is a simple hand (paw) shake, he can do now other friends meaning switch to other paw to shake. The most common thing anyone says when they meet Pawz is 'I think I love your dog'."
"Gus is in training for a future in the classroom. He is known for his calm demeanor and intelligence. I hope he will provide teenagers of the future with a much needed release from their stress and anxiety. After he learns more in classes such as excellent manners and good citizen training, I look forward to having him help make students school experiences positive and welcoming."
About the event
Last year, Camas DECA raised over $8,200 to donate to local humane societies through the All Paws on Deck (APOD) dog mayor race and street fair. This year, we are holding both, a virtual event, and an in-person street fair in downtown Camas on September 24th from 11am-3pm. Our goal is to raise over $10,000 for our the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society this year in a fun, interactive way.
